Sigma Product
Corporation, Sigma Product Sigma Product PC cases defective... Warranty department DOES NOT RETURN CALLS

Electronics and household app.

Sigma Product is the name used by a manufacturer of PC (computer) cases. These cases range in price from inexpensive to very expensive.

I purchased a Sigma Product case, the ORCA-B, from a reputable online retailer, Newegg.com. The ORCA-B is a very basic case, and is therefore, not very expensive. I have significant experience in building PCs, and knew that the features of this introductory level case would be fine for my needs.

After receiving the case, which had been left out in the rain by UPS, I called Newegg.com to report that the case was damaged by the wet. When I opened the case, I noticed that the glue used to hold some wired components to the inside of the front panel had given out, and the glue-caked wires were just lying there. Newegg.com offered to overnight me a replacement.

After receiving my second Orca, which was delivered in an intact box during clear weather, I opened the case to find, once again, that the glue used in the case had given out.internal components were caked but not secure and the power button on the case kept falling off.

I called Newegg.com, and they offered another Orca, but I felt bad for them, as they had already replaced it once, and had paid for overnight shipping to boot. They suggested that I could take up the warranty issue with the manufacturer Sigma Product directly.

I called Sigma Product at their Warranty Department phone number, which is available at the company's website. The phone was answered by a voicemail system that identified the recipient as "Mailbox 109" and prompted me to leave a message at the tone. I did, and gave sufficient detail to explain my warranty issue. I never received a return call from Sigma Product.

While waiting for the phone call, I researched Sigma Product and found out two pieces of information that I thought were useful:

1) There are several complaints on Sigma Product cases regarding the glue issue that I described. These complaints extend throughout Sigma's product line, and seem to refer to the expensive cases with the same frequency as the inexpensive ones.

2) Although Sigma Product identifies itself as being in City Of Industry, California in is dealer application, which is available on the company's website, Sigma Product is not registered with the State of California to do business in that state. This is easy to verify at CA. Gov.

Accordingly, Sigma Product appears to be a shady company, who is selling defective products. On top of that, they do not care enough about their reputation even to return a phone call to their warranty department.

With so many customers complaining about the glue defect on these PC cases, I am surprised that no one has uttered the words "class action" yet. Oh, I guess I just did.

If you've had a similar experience with Sigma Product, please leave a comment or issue your own report.
