Ecost.com
Platinum Countdown Fraud

Electronics and household app.

ECost advertises the Platinum countdown membership for access to "Outrageous Offers". Unfortunately, they don't honor those offers. I signed up with the idea of getting an occaisional offer of nothing in particular. After a few days I found an item that appeared to be a good deal. A Case Logic thumb drive case for $1.99. The membership provides for 5 instances of free shipping, so I ordered it.

To my suprise, the company cancelled the order. The email they sent didn't explain why, so I contacted eCost at their customer service number. They politely explained to me that they got the price wrong and it was supposed to be 9.99. The best part of this whole ordeal is that they counted the order against my 5 free shipping instances. I asked that they cancel my membership and refund my money since they did not honor their promotion only to be told that they could cancel the membership but not refund the membership fee. I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the 39.95 charge. The basic business practices of this company are questionable at best and customers should be aware of them.
