Defective merchandise/False advertisement / deceptive sales practice

I Bought a Vivitek 51" projection Tv and just after three month's we started having problems, and now there is no picture the Tv has been sitting in our living room for over a year and we tried contacting Shop Nbc and Vivitek Corp. And they both told us that there was nothing they could do because we did not have a protection plan, which we were never offered to begin with. My husband want's to use it as target practice, but i'am sure there is something we can do... Some one please help us?
