Electronics and household app.
In February I purchased the Toshiba TheaterView SD Model number 32D46/47 - for $410.00. It performed perfectly and we were very happy with it. On 8/5/08 it stopped working. I'd push the power button on the remote or the TV and the power light would go on for a second and blink out - no picture - no power.
I thought the CRT tube might be defective - which is covered under the warranty - but a licensed TACP service technician determined the TV's power supply is defective - not covered. He said that it would cost about $200.00 to fix it - which is nearly half of what I paid for it new.
I sent Toshiba en e-mail and they told me to call the Service Center. I did and explained everything and long story short the rep just kept saying, "Sorry there's nothing we can do. This just sometimes happens". I asked if there was anything at all - some sort of coinsideration and he said "No." I'm sh*t out of luck.
When I bought the set I did so because we have another Toshiba TV that is 9 years old - and still works fine. It's not right that a product at this level should fail so soon and that I should incur such a cost to fix it. It's hard to believe that after spending $410.00 only a year-and-a-half ago that this TV is now dead.
I will not buy another Toshiba product and telling everyone I know in person and online.
