Rip Off!

I went to the Circuit City in Bloomington to take advantage of the deal that if the consumer signs up for three years of internet, they consequently get $400 towards any purchase. I was attracted to this deal because I use the internet constantly to do Graduate level research concerning government agencies. I purchased a stereo and some other products.

However, within thirty days I was not satisfied with the quality of the stereo or the internet service. I receive a free service through the university I attend, and the service I recieved through Circuit City was not anymore beneficial than the free service. Thereafter I decided to pay the $50 cancelation fee for the internet service provider. When I did this, Circuit City said that I was stuck with the $309 credit (the amount of the stereo minus the costs of various cd's and movies I did keep) and they would charge my credit card for this. I did not agree with this however I was told by the operations manager at the Rockford location that the credit was good for 2 years, and I figured I would buy something within two years. This all happened on Labor Day weekend and thirty days after.

A little over three months went by. I was contemplating the idea of getting a cell phone. I decided that since I had a credit at Circuit City, I would go there to make my purchase rather than going elsewhere. However, when I went to make my purchase with store credit card I was told by the same operations manager at the Rockford store as well as their so-called "Customer Service" line that it was expired and there was nothing they could do about it.

They supposedly do not have records on this or anything. So, ultimately I was screwed out of over $300! Never again will I do business with Circuit City!
