Sent a notice to collect $89.40 from AT&T from over 10 years ago

We received a memo from ASSETCARE, INC dated May 10 indicating that they were InoVision, A NCOP Company and claiming we owe $89.40 from the creditor AT&T for a phone number that we had not used in over 8 years and it was out our previous address. There was no explanation of what the bill was for

I contacted AT&T and they told me that they do NOT use ASSETCARE as a credit agency and any time they look for any collection, the person's Social Security number along with a detailed bill is provided. And that we do NOT have any outstanding bills. We tried to contact this company and they just put us on hold for over 10 minutes.
We would like to know if this should be reported to the police
