Newegg.com
Fradulent advertising and very poor customer service Ripoff

Electronics and household app.

I ordered a canon A570IS camera package from newegg.com which was to include accessories, the most important of which was a 1GB flash card to replace the useless 16mb card that is standard from the factory, and allows one to take only about six photos.

I received the package, opened in Saturday evening, and discovered the 1GB flash card did not fit the camera. It was at least twice the size of the stock camera card and, obviously, would not fit into the flash port.

I called the company and they were closed on Sunday. I had to use the camera that day, went to a local camera store and was unable to purchase a flash card to fit the camera. I had to buy a new camera.

I called newegg.com on Monday, listened to their phone recording which promised "eggcellent" customer service to rival their competitors, and soon spoke with Denise. When I asked for her name she muffled or scrambled it so I couldn't make out what she was saying. After some time, she finally gave me her name so I could hear it.

Denise told me that newegg.com does not guarantee that the contents of the camera package I purchased ensured compatability, In other words, they sold me a flash card that did not fit the camera and that was ok. The fact that I didn't need a flash card for any purpose other than to allow me to use the camera, and for which I purchased the package, was not guaranteed by the company.

Needless to say, I returned the package, vowing not to solicit that company ever again, and to report this incidence, as it has been my first and only experience with a fradulent internet company.

Later, I discovered that they have a 15% restocking fee. When I purchased the camera their internet site stated the product was refundabe within 30 days, but did not state a restocking fee.

They refused to wave the 15% restocking fee, but I would rather lose money than solicit this company. Also, the 15% restocking fee they charge is not made clear anywhere during the purchase process. One has to research their website in order to find this information, which is hidden away. One would hope that a reputable company would include this information at the time of purchase, but all they stated was that a refund was available within 30 days of the purchase.
