Ripoff

Electronics and household app.

Ripped off at a 7-11 in Brien, Washington!

On the way home from a business trip, my husband was approached by a guy claiming that he ordered some speakers from some company and they sent him an extra pair. He told him they were worth around $1200 a piece (which is what the label on the box said) and he would give them to him for $250 for the pair. My husband had the guy take them out of the box and seemed to think they were ligit and paid the guy. He even had a receipt for them which "proved" that this was legal. Of course the minute I saw them, I knew that he had been taken.

The one thing that I noticed is that they didn't come with any speaker wires and they really do look cheap on closer inspection. It did come with a warranty paper, but no warrenty card to send them, like real companies do. Now we have speakers that are probably on worth $50 and to make them work, we have to buy speaker wire to fit them. Basically we are stuck with two large towers of worthless partical board.

Description of speakers: 4' tall with black & silver on sides (looks like wood?) Has black removable speaker cover. Gray partical board is what the speaker is made of. No cords. Box has picture of them with the name "Elite Audio" in a red box and all kinds of names of companies on it. Even has a barcode with suggested price and a website address, www.eaeliteaudio.com which I checked out and of course does not exist.

Just be smart and don't buy from anyone selling something in a parking lot! I knew this already, but my husband didn't.
