Bait and Switch victimized many consumers

Attached is a letter that I just sent to the CEO of Worldcom Wireless regarding my situation. My friend is also getting ripped off by them. All victims of this company should write this jerk!

Mr. Ebbers:

I am writing to you as a frustrated customer who has run out of options. I have been a Worldcom customer since December 1998.

My first account was account number 51-68319. I later extended the account and it became account number 51-00068319. For three years I was a loyal customer to your company. What a mistake.

In November I was called by one of your representatives in Chicago Mr. Marc Howell who offered me another contract with your company. I received a new phone, a new rate plan and a new contract. This contract went into effect in November (account number 21-00058342).

When I asked him how I should cancel my old contract, he told me to write discontinue service on my bill for my old account and everything would be fine. I did this and also wrote a letter to the address in Nederland, Texas canceling the account. I then received a bill in the amount of $30.53 in December for a phone that had been inoperable for six weeks.interesting that phone service was cut off but the billing continued!

I called your customer service number 1-800-254-8991 was kept on hold for 30 minutes and then was stuck talking to a representative for 30 minutes as she struggled to understand the issue at hand. She gave me a deactivation number 3288796 and told me the account was at $0. I have just received another bill from your company on this account for $32.09. I am also sitting on a bill for my active phone for $30.02.

You truly need to examine your billing procedures and your customer service representatives on every level. Your company's bait and switch tactics are disgusting.

If my account on the first phone is not cancelled and brought to a zero balance immediately, I will contact the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Illinois and report your company to the Consumer Protection Bureau.

I can also assure you that as soon as my current contract is up, I will not be renewing it. Your business practices are reprehensible and the word is out about your company. Check out the websites dedicated to Worldcom Wireless with the exact complaints as mine.

I look forward to the immediate resolution of this matter.
