Ripoff upsell additional unspoken charges Credit Card overbilling Brooklyn, New Yord

I was looking for a good camera, and found one, then I went looking for a good price, and found a rippoff.

I ordered a camera listed at $294 on Sunday night... Found out that it was $294 after rebate - that adds $50 to the credit card - added a carry bag on the website and called it a done deal, INCLUDING $15 SHIPPING, for $420.

Two days later (Tues) received an email saying my order needed 'verified'. That is when the upsell began. The clerk belittled the battery that came in the box claiming that it was only a 30 minute battery and upsold a $49 2 hr battery. The clerk pushed a $240 lens kit w/instant rebate - I balked at the price and 'his supervisor' allowed him to cut it to $99. Then the extended warrantee came in at $20 for a year. Total price $637.

($420 $49 $99 $20 = $588 last time I checked, which was unfortunately after I got off the phone that day.)

Then the final pitch... Did you know that for $12 more you can have everything you agreed to in a package deal plus 5yr warrantee, another battery? Total price including shipping $649. Confirmed three times - INCLUDING SHIPPING (and note the math above included shipping).

The sucker (me) took it. And the clerk said he would send it out "today" - still Tuesday.

Thursday night the package finally hit UPS and the bill hit my credit card for $688. When I called back to complain I waited on the phone for 12 minutes while he upsold other victims. Then I had a conversation where the clerk claimed he had given the full price on Tuesday and that he had a recording. He would dig through the files and play the recording for me if I called back later in the day. Requests to talk to a supervisor were ignored.

Perhaps Monday I will have a good camera - but I'll know that I was RIPPED OFF $100 by A&M Photo World by their upselling and failure to tell the truth. I'm sure when I call back he will have a recording of him saying $688... Because he said it in TODAY's call. There is no accountability to prove that he didn't say it in Tuesday's call.

If you take a risk with this company RECORD THE CALL. I wish I did. If I had a recording of Tuesday's call I could play it back for them.
