Travelers Advantage - Chase - Trilegiant
Trilegiant Aka Travelers Advantage ripoff Fraudulent, unauthorized billing to Chase MasterCard

Education & Science

Today I received an account statement for my Chase Freedom MasterCard, which I immediately found confusing as I have not used my credit-card in several months.

Upon reviewing my statement I found a 99.99 charge, dated 7/19/04, attributed to "TRAVELERSADV29374555866-386-9386" that of course made no sense at all to me, since I had not authorized anything at all for the whole month of July on my credit-card.

Moreover, there was a credit on 7/26/04 that appeared to be a rebate for the fraudulent transaction.

I gave Chase a call to report this obvious fraudulent activity on my credit-card and to ask if they could identify the party that applied the charge on my account. They immediately responded it was "an affiliate of Chase", namely Travelers Advantage.

I promptly informed them I NEVER AUTHORIZED ANY debit against my credit-card via Travelers Advantage, and demanded they remove their (Chase's) fraudulent activity from my account immediately.

Numerous Chase Service Representatives (including one Supervisor) notified me it was MY RESPONSIBILITY to contact THEIR AFFILIATE to remove the unauthorized charge from my account, even though I insisted I had NEVER authorized ANYTHING with Travelers Advantage.

In addition, when called back (call #3) and requested to file a dispute, and demanded that Chase assist me in accordance with Federal Regulation E, at first the Service Representative assured me he would remove the charge from account posthaste, but a few minutes later he informed me the "system was down" and he would manually enter the request to file a dispute, and that it would take 2-3 billing cycles to reach me!

At this point I realized Travelers Advantage is the only fraudlent party in this scheme... By the way, did I mention I am a Legal News Reporter in Manhattan Federal Court?

To make a long story short, tomorrow I am going to contact Travelers Advantage and get their twisted version of the story, after which I will contact the Chase Credit Card Fraud Services and asked them what they think.

I'm starting to think Chase/Travelers Advantage (and who knows how many other companies) are defrauding thousands, no make that hundreds of thousands of customers - Oh by the way, did I mention I'm on a first name basis with every major CLASS ACTION lawfirm in the USA?

I think Milberg Weiss will be seeing dollar signs by the time I submit my story for publication.

If you want to be part of the Class, contact me by using the rebuttal box below.
