Northland Group (NGI) Ripoff Refusal to correct credit reports. NGI has no record of an account with ME

I called Northland (NGI) and spoke with Ian Campbell today wanting to know who they were and why do I owe them money listed in my credit report. They checked under my name, account number from credit report and my social security number. They came up with nothing. I requested a letter from them for my records stating I either have no account or have a balance due Northland. They said they could not do this because it might be a debt from another office that they may have worked accounts receivables. Apparently they do not keep good records, because the date of the in file on my credit report was August. If a collection agency as a "no record", they should provide a written letter to you as verification, not just a verbal.
