Ripoff, scam, rude, threatening criminal action, demanding money

I recieved a letter in Nov. Of 2003 from JBC & Associates telling me I wrote a bad check in AZ from my Bank Of America account in the amount of $75.00 on 8-8-96. I knew something was wrong right away as I had a Bank Of America account up until about 2 years ago and never heard of such thing. I had moved from AZ to NC in March of 1997. I knew the company I supposedly wrote a bad check to had plenty of time to get in touch with me.

Anyway, I blew it off. I got another letter yesterday from JBC demanding I pay $225.00. They said the company I wrote the check to was Gold Art Creations. I never even heard of that store in AZ. I tried to look it up on the internet and have contacted friends in AZ to look it up in the phone book and as far as I can tell this is not even a real company. I called this JBC yesterday. JBC informed me that they have already started Criminal Proceedings against me. I informed them I never wrote this check and even if I did they were beyond the Statue Of Limitations. I spoke with a Mr. Mitchell, he also told me that he will note the account that I wrote the check with out any intent of ever paying and still do not intend to pay and that he will make sure that criminal action is taken against me. Mr. Mitchell continued to yell and make threats to me. I just hung up the phone.
For one if you go to a so called, what I am thinking is a Jewelry store, you would not spend $75.00 even. Another thing when you call an "Attorneys" office they are very professional, these people at JBC didn't even come close to acting in a professional manner. There is no way it takes an attorney over 7 years to find you if you wrote a bad check, especially when you had the same bank for several years after such a thing.
