Ripoff deceptive dishonest billing

I renewed an expired Classmates.com membership in June. Just this month I noticed two $7 charges on my credit card. I called WLI* and cancelled the "subscriptions". For what it is worth, the customer support person was courteous and efficient.

Apparently Classmates allows these affiliate (parent??? / child???) companies to use my billing information as though it was given by myself to another company.

I have emailed Classmates.com and received an initial response which said I did this and that to authorize the trial membership and subsequent automatic continuing enrollment. I wasn't born yesterday and don't travel much and would never pay $14 for travel values or whatever. I would just use Jet Blue or Southwest or whatever was cheap *when* i needed to fly.

I called my cred card company (First USA) and they were perhaps the least helpful. The fraud/dispute department person informed me she was aware of how these people operate and I must have ok'd the charges or trial (which becale permanent) membership. They were totally useless.

I did write Classmates.com stating I expected a refund of ALL payments made to WLI*.

All I can say at this juncture is avoid classmates.com. Something has happened to this site in the last couple years. They have become apparently crooks.

Giving my credit card information to another company. That sounds criminal!!!
