"With Justice for none."
A corporation is a fiction that relives man of his esponsibility to his neighbor.
It permits him to do in the name of the corporation what he would not do in his own name. It shields him from his human conscience. Like any mechanism, the corporation mindlessly obeys the commands of those who manipulate it. And thereby commits some of the greatest crimes ever visited upon the human race.
Yet a corporation has an independent life that like a machine, possesses certain feature of immortality. It can survive those who created it. It can, like a run away train, smash any and all who stand in its way. It consumes the energies of its workers like coal shoveled into the boilers. If it wrecks, many will be injured and many destroyed. It can be junked. It can be bought and sold. Professor Charles A. Reich of Yale law school says, " The corporation is an immensely powerful machine, ordered. Legalistic, rational, yet utterly out of human control, wholly and perfectly indifferent to an Human value."
