Simple Escapes SimpleEscapes.com ripoff fraud, misrepresentation, false promises I think there is something fishy about this company

I joined Simple Escapes on a trial basis through Search Cactus. I had to only pay $1 activation fee, but had 30 days to cancel before my card would be billed the monthly member fee.

I did cancel and my card was not charged again. However, there was a promise made, (the reason I signed up for the trial) a $25 Kmart gift certificate, simply for trying out Simple Escapes. That was in January.

First of all, it took me more than the 30 day trial period to receive my info pack, which I called and complained about, saying I haven't even gotten my gift certificate and information and the trial expires in just a few days.

They appologized and I promptly received it. I sent in the card for the Kmart gift certificate, which the representative told me was indeed a free gift just for trying Simple Escapes, No matter if I did decide to stay with them or not, I would still receive my free gift.

Well it is now June 2. I called and was told my acct. Was cancelled and the Kmart Gift Certificate was only for current members. I explained when I ordered the card I WAS a current "trial" member and this was to be my free gift. I was put on hold and a Manager, named John ID 9893.

John informed me (In a very abrupt and short tone) That the gift card was only for members! I explained the same thing to him and he stated "I am sorry you have been misinformed!" To which I replied "Hmm this probably explaines why I have seen so many rip off reports for your company on the internet."

This comment seemed to inflame him further, as he said "Well that is just fine Ma'am, I can't do anything for you on this matter, Is there anything else I can do for you?" I again tried to explain my position to no avail. John simply stated. "My name is John ID9893..." "I said let me write that down. I suppose I will be adding my complaint to the ripoff complaints filed against you." To which he aloofly replied. "Thank you very much!" As if it were some type of honor. And I answered with a resounding, "Well you are very welcome"
The line went dead!

So although I didn't receive an unauthorized charge on my acct. I still think there is something fishy about this company. Also, I have realized that they are no longer an offered trial at search cactus.
