On 10/03/02, I subscribed to Direct TV with Prime Television. The promotional offer was to receive a $100 rebate after sending in the required documentation: see http://www.primetelevision.com/rules.htm

I was to receive my rebate in 6-8 weeks. After hearing nothing, I phoned and was left a voice mail from Shannon, who told me that I did not send in the required Prime TV bill. I sent in my credit card statement showing that I had been billed for Prime TV service. She stated that this was not good enough.

This was not a requirement in the documentation that was originally sent to me. The instructions I had simply stated that I need to send proof of payment for Pr
ime TV service. Because my bill is charged to my credit card, I was not being sent an actual bill from Direct TV. I called Direct TV, asked for a bill and mailed it to Prime TV. Again, nothing. I phoned and received another voice mail from

Shannon. This time, telling me that I had been approved for the rebate, and it would be sent to me in 6-8 weeks. The approval was given on February 12th. Today is the 16th and I have not received my rebate, I called again. I spoke to Liz, who told me that I am not eligable for the rebate because I did not send in the required documentation in the designated time frame.

I have saved my voice mail messages, which I offered to replay for her, have copies of every letter that I have sent to Prime TV attempting to resolve this. I want my rebate, and I do not want to wait another 8 weeks!
I then submitted an online complaint last night to the BBB and Attorney General regarding Prime Television. After sending the complaint, I was still furious, so I called back and again reached Liz in customer service.

I asked to speak to the Customer Service Manager. She told me that she did not know where he was. I asked if he was in the building. She said yes. I told her to page him. She can't do that. I again questioned her about why my rebate would be denied if I have a telephone message stating it was approved. She said that the computer kicked it out because I did not send the required documentation within the designated time period.

I asked how that could be, if I received a phone call stating that they have received my documentation and a confirmation that it was approved. She said the computer just kicks them out. I asked how she was able to pull up my account if I was kicked out of the computer... Silence. She said only a Manager can over ride a computer kick out. That indicates to me that they DO have the ability to release my rebate. I am not willing to accept that there is nothing they can do.

I asked Liz to put my file, which she said she had in her hand, on her Manager's desk and tell him I want to talk to him that night. I did not receive a response. At this point, I still have not heard from anyone at Primetelevison. I have to tell you, I was the typical irrate customer. I was very demanding and very angry. I have put up with this since October! The entire ordeal has been a fiasco. I paid for my satellite dish and had it shipped and then the installer didn't show up twice after I took the entire day off to be home. It's just getting really annoying.

I called Direct TV and told them about this and they said they don't have anything to do with Prime Television other than that they are the agent that actually sells their service. My response was " then you ARE in business with them" If they contract Prime TV to sell their service, they are partners! Both companies just point to the other when there is a problem. This is now more about principle than it is about the money.

I just can not tolerate such horrible customer service! I should have seen this as a red flag when there is not even an email address on their website. Also when I call the number for Direct Tv in the local phone book, I get Prime TV. If I had known that I was not dealing directly with Direct TV, I would have purchased my system from Circuit City or Best Buy. My neighbors have Direct TV programming which they purchased from Best Buy and they are not having any problems. The problem is the unprofessional service of Prime Tv
