Dirty ripoff liars gave me an education I will never forget

On September 11, I took emergency medical leave for neck surgery from Dana College. I made this quite clear to both the Admissions Office and the Registrar's Office on September 11. When I took the medical leave, I did not believe that I would have to have representation accompany me. I went alone—specifically telling the registrar that I needed medical leave. She told me sign and date a document. When I saw that the document said "Withdrawal" I mentioned that I had told her "medical leave". She said "All the documents are the same. This is all that I have.in the end it will be medical leave." In severe pain and with her coaxing, I signed the documents.

I returned almost a month later after completing successful neck surgery. The registrar said, "What are you doing here? You withdrew!" I couldn't believe what she was talking about. I had quit my $18.90 an hour job and left a low-rent $81.00 a month apartment back in my hometown to attend Dana College. I had spent over $2,000.00 in borrowed money to move my belongings to Blair and find a new apartment. I had a nearly full scholarship to Dana; having turned down two other scholarships from my hometown college and another in Denver.

Now, I am back from neck surgery and the registrar (Michelle Kempke-Eppler) is lying through her teeth! I am left high and dry in Blair with no job, no college, and—to add insult to injury—a bill from Dana College for $5,000.00

All of the scholarships are now gone from the other colleges. I went through graduation from Western Nebraska Community College last May and was honored with a perfect 4.0 average. Going from having my picture in the paper in my hometown to being kicked out of Dana College because of needing emergency neck surgery was an absolute nightmare.

Dana College should be engaged in educating students the traditional way instead of engaging in lies and trickery. I got an education, but not the one that I expected. I think that people should be warned about Dana College. If I had been a younger student, I would have been completely devastated.

I am attempting to get a college degree to better my life. I put everything in my life on hold to attend Dana College; for reason of physical illness they are attempting to destroy everything that I have worked hard for.
