The Washington Center
Total Scam, Misleading Programs, bad internships, Overpriced

Education & Science

The company portrays itself as an opportunity to recieve additional class credits and get internship opportunities. Their ability to get students internships are no better than what you can apply for yourself, and they'll charge you extreme amounts for it. The class credit is still totally decided by your school, and is minimal and generally requires additional work. And none of it is all just work experience, but comes with book reports and workshops.

The seminars seem a better deal at half the price, taking up less time, and getting you access to good events. But just because I got to go to Denver for the convention didn't mean I got to see anything. I worked odd hours just like any other local volunteer checking passes at a door ina totally different building than the convention. I watched the speech from Obama at the end of the week on TV just like I could have anywhere else. They told nobody till right at the end that they wouldn't be providing us food, or transportation.

The speakers they lined up were a joke 1/2 the time, attendance was mandatory, they added homework on top of it, and in the end my school didn't think their program warranted any credit because the fieldwork was so useless. $5,000 for nothing! The only thing they really provided was housing, which was awful. I could have gotten better fieldwork for myself on ym own, travelled there for less, and stayed in a better place if I'd known their ability to get you school credit was such cr*p!

They totally mislead you, and make you think they have everything all planned out but it's a completely disorganized company. They had issues giving work schedules every day, and their staff is low on customer service. They got upset with the students, without right, and laid into us verbally when they were stressed. Very few got decent fieldwork... Our Govt even had paid for two students from the UK to come over who got stuck with night shifts for CNN unpacking plates... Tax dollars at work!

This company is a total scam. There are so many others out there more worth it. This is not a good opportunity to get class credit, just a way to waste time and money... And be yelled at!
