I joined the Bryman College homeland security specialist program in the spring of 2006. I was told and given forms that said job placement, and they would get me set up with interviews and all I need to do was show up. So I worked hard at passing the 7-month course with a 3.2 GPA. During those times I applied to several jobs related to my course, security at a hospital was one specific. I was called in for an interview and went in and had a good interview, but was sent a letter that said "they decided to go with another candidate". The hospital was where my mother works, and she asked one of the head security personnel why I didn't get the job and he said "he has no experience". I was asked to turn in a resume to the career councilor at Bryman and they just gave me a list of places and told me to apply to them, and also said "try applying at a hospital", after I had said multiple times hospitals require people with experience, and their response was "maybe they have an entry level position", like they couldn't get it through their head that hospitals don't want inexperience security. So that was the biggest waste of $10K ever as at least a handful of others in my class were at least equally upset with the entire situation. The "degree" is not a recognized "degree" all it is nothing more than a "diploma" for Homeland Security Specialist. Of course I find out a month after I finished that the Lynnwood campus was closing and they were eliminating the Homeland Security Specialist Course. Four months into the course the instructor/teacher who was former FBI and police officer left for another job and they had someone who was a student previously as the new teacher who was not nearly as good as his predecessor. Bottom line this was a rip-off, words of advice to always make sure the college is acreddited and know that any school that plays ads virtually any hours of the day is not respectable if they need to keep hyping themselves
