CIC Credit Monitor Orange, California
CIC Credit Monitor ripoff, not decent or fai

Education & Science

I signed up for this "free" service thinking that 1.) it would give me a decent credit report, and 2.) it would be fair. I was wrong about both.

I was checking my credit card transaction history this morning when I noticed a mysterious charge. I didn't even remember who the company was. This is mainly due to the fact that once I signed up for the report, the company did not send me anything else afterwards. No confirmation e-mail with your username and password or this mysterious "PIN#" that they ask you to provide to get into your site. I never received anything.

So with time, it was easy to forget. Not to mention that they also don't even tell you when your starting date for the free trial period is. So I looked up this curious "CIC" company on a search and found this website complaining about CIC's fraud. Then suddenly I remembered and was shocked. How could this company just charge my credit card without my consent?

The report CIC gives you doesn't give you that much helpful information, yet you are charged this attrocious fee for it without even a warning!

In the agreement they tell you that you will not be charged if you cancel my membership before the thirty day trial ends. When I was signing up, I remember thinking that it was strange that I should need to provide my credit card information, but since I was told that I would not be charged unless I kept my membership after the thirty day grace period, I thought that everything would be fine.

I expected to be notified when the thirty day trial period ended. I was horribly mistaken. I was planning on cancelling my membership but I didn't know when the thirty days ended because they made no effort to let me know when those days would come to expire.

They should have at least sent me an e-mail, but I received nothing. And as I said earlier, I received nothing from them starting at day one (whenever that started), which further prevented me from even knowing what was going on.

And the sad thing is, the only way people can know when their trial period has ended is when they get charged for it. Of course I know now that my trial period has ended because a charge of $79.95 was applied to my credit card this month. But I can not believe that a company would charge someone's account without their consent. They don't even have the courtesy to send them their information after they sign up. A company should be obligated to give everyone a fair chance when a service requires any type of payment. They should send them their information after they sign up. And most importantly, they should be required to send out a warning out when someone's credit card is about to be charged— and by this, I mean when the thirty days are about to end. That way the person has the choice to decide what they want. I was never given that entire option and it appears that many others were not as well. That is ridiculous. I hope that everyone complains about this so that this company will be shut down.

I have already sent CIC an e-mail demanding that this fraudulant charge be removed from my credit card and for my account to be cancelled. If I don't hear back from them, I will call them. I will also be calling my credit card company and explaining this issue to them. I'll provide any updates that happen within the next couple of days. I am not going to give up easily.

Good luck to you all.
