Rx Tech School (Pharmacy Choice)
Recommended by Pharmacy Choice, but it's just another diploma mill

Education & Science

This review is more about their recommended online school, RxTechSchool.com, which is proving itself to be nothing more than another diploma mill based on my experience.

I studied hard and passed the PTCB exam with flying colors over a year ago. I am a certified pharmacy technician and, even during these times, I should find good work, right? WRONG!

These counselors could not wait to enroll me back in December telling me that my background was golden and that it would be a good transition. (More recent work in data entry, experience in labs and chemistry degree from over ten years ago, etc.)

Now that I am trying to find work, the recruiters have changed their tune. I should have seen the warning signs last year, when my counselor made the remark before I took the exam that it would be hard to find work from their recruiters without the experience, that I should talk to retail pharmacists.

I've been looking for months and get the same old same old. They are saying that they need EXPERIENCED technicians! Before I wasted my money on this class and the exam, they were telling me that the certification would make finding a job very easy because of the demand. I see jobs posted everywhere for technicians, but they reject my applications for lack of experience.

So after looking and looking for work since this past summer and getting nowhere, I contacted their counselors and I got some comments that I did not really appreciate. My contact acted like I was in the way, that I was bothering him, that he is very busy, he's doing this for me for free on his spare time, and then quipped something about, "I don't know what you want from me." He's also telling me that they want recent experience and that he already has other "deserving" candidates that cannot find work.

So I am not "deserving"??? I wasted my last two years taking care of my husband that I almost lost to cancer and caring for a newborn baby as well. That DOES indeed make me very undeserving, obviously.

They wasted my time and my money so thanks for nothing. They are just another diploma mill, based on my experience thus so far. The online course is informative and they have free CE courses for life which is good. It does not matter, though, because the education and certificate are as good as nothing if you want to get a job. They are no help at all.

Some honesty upfront would have been helpful. They are no better than other diploma mills out there. They get your hopes up when you register, then abandon you after they get your money. Forget about getting any job placement assistance from them even though that is how they advertise themselves.
