Ripoff My contract was finished in November but I am still being charged No one will give me confirmation that my contract has expired

Education & Science

I was given the Internet Toolbox as a gift. I thought that it would be a good part time business. Something that I could make a little extra money.

At first I was Sceptical, but my socalled advisor set me up with the contract and all the things I would need to get started.

I asked him how much it would cost to set up my internet store, in wich he replied $2000. I told him that I could not afford to send all of the money at one time. He told me I could pay $79.95 a month for 36 months, so I agreed.

I also asked what could be done if it did not workout. He told me that he could sell my internet storefront to another person, and that they would take over the payments. So I signed the contract.

I was told at that time that another person would call me to setup and create my website, which did happen. My site was setup and looked good. Then I was told that in order for customers to be able to use their credit cards that I would have to pay an additional $400. Which I payed all at once.

So my store was open and ready for business, (Wrong) I told some friends about my store and they tried to go to my site, but they couldnt get through. I also tried to get to it and failed, which was worse for me because I had to keep track of my sales. I called tech support and got the run around.

Eventully I got through to someone who seemed to know what they were talking about, and they said that the problem was fixed. For a whole year I tried to get to my web site with no luck (meanwhile I am still paying for something that does'nt work). Finally I called my advisor and told him that I had had enough and that I wanted to sell. I was informed by the same person who told me that I could sell, that he never said that I could (lie). He said that I was stuck paying for it until my contract was ended.

So after two and a half years of paying for something that I dont and cannot use, I called leasecom. I wanted to find out if I could pay off the last six months all at once. Not only was I informed that I could'nt, but also that I owed another year on my contract. To which I stated that the contract was dated 11/10/99 and that it was written under legnth of contract three years. After a little argument I told them that I had the contract in my hand and would fax a copy to them.

I called back and they said that they had received my fax and would look into it. I never heard another thing from them. The three years has passed and still no confirmation on my expired contract. I tried to call but get a message that noone is there or that everyone is busy. I hope that I dont have to involve my lawyer in this matter, but it looks like I may have to, (meanwhile still paying for something that I have not used in three years).
