Privace Matters Identity theft phone lookup

I entered into an online request for a cellular phone lookup and provided my credit card info to Intelius. I was informed a few days later that the information I requested was not available and that I would not be charged for the service.

Three months later I noticed I had 3 charges for some kind of "theft identity" program from privacymatters.com that occurred every month for the past 3 months. I never asked for this service and noticed I had received a single email from privacymatters.com 3 months prior indicating I had a 7 day trial that would bill each month if I did not cancel before the trial was over. I must have overlooked this email when I initially received it because I had NO interest in this service nor did I ever log into their site to use this service.

I contacted privacymatters.com and they told me the charges originated from Intelius so I canceled the service and they said they would refund the most recent charge only.

I ended up having to file a dispute with my credit card company to get the charges refunded and had my credit card canceled.
