Unauthorized charges to credit card and enrollment

We ordered a gift basket from Cherry Moon Farms (associated with ProFlowers) as a xmas gift on Dec. 20th 2007.

Reviewing our account online on December 21st, there was a unknown charge for $1.95 from Easy Saver Rewards, which we did NOT sign up for nor authorize. Contacted our credit card company and the only information they had was a telephone number; after doing a Google search on that number, it revealed the information on Easy Saver and their underhanded technique to rip people off.

We did receive some sort of "$10.00 off your next order" coupon in an email, which we also thought was just an incentive for return business, but decided we probably would not use it, and clicked it closed. And that was enough to go ahead and -without our consent or knowledge - set up an account using the information from ProFlowers or Cherry Moon Farms (credit card number, our name, address, etc. Which was supposed to be a SECURE TRANSACTION, you know, information that is not supposed to be transmitted elsewhere off the originating site), and Easy Saver activated the account with their $1.95 charge.

Luckily we were able to catch this before they started charging up $14.95 a month

How many people do they rip off even for just the $1.95 initial fee? Imagine the thousands of consumers they get like this, and the amount that it adds up to for them! Even when people notice and cancel, there are many more people who don't realize what's going on.

This has to be illegal and hopefully someone will stop this practice. They are gouging people and gathering information that was supposedly secure when a transaction had occurred.
