Union Clearing House Rip-Off

I recieved a letter in the mail today stating that I was a winner of $70000.00 from Fortune 500 Consumers Rewards program. I also recieved a check in the amount of $2990.00 to cover the processing fee. The check was to be placed on hold until they had more info from me and the balance of 67010.00 would be sent to me after they recieved the processing fee. After doing a search of all the companies involved I came to the conclusion that this was just a hoax. Nothing in the letter was accurate.

First off the heading is from a company called Union Clearing house. No such company exists that I can find. They give an address from Vancouver BC but no phone number. They also give a reference number that I wasn't to give out, (it was printed on the letter).

Fortune 500 Companies Consumer Rewards program is who is supposed to be giving this money away. I checked the web and could find nothing about this company having anything to do with a sweepstake.

Now to the check. It is a real check, probably purchased in bulk from a supply company and printed out, I don't even know if Aldin Construction is aware of this. They are a real company out of CA and they are on the web, I will call them tomorrow and find out. The check is from Cathay Bank with bogus routing and account numbers.

If you recieve such a letter please do not call and give out your banking info. This is a scam. Think about it, why would Fortune 500 just give me 70000. For no reason.
