Fake Armani Jackets ripoff

I was walking to my bank ATM (BofA in Vons on the corner of Harbor and Adams in Costa Mesa) around 4pm today and was stopped by an Italian guy asking for directions to LAX. I gladly gave him the directions and he said "hey, you seem like a nice guy. I'd like to do something for you".
The next thing I know he's asking me for $200 so he can make a flight back to Italy tonight instead of waiting for 3 more days. I ask him what happened. He told me that he fell in love with this girl who robbed him of all his money and really just wanted to go back to Italy tonight. He was on the verge of tears.
I felt pretty bad for him. What an actor!
He said he worked for Armani and in exchange for the $200 he would give me these 3 Armani jackets from this year's line. He said that he'd rather give them away than pay the taxes on them to take them back to Italy!? He mentioned something to the effect of "these would sell for several thousand dollars".
I checked his passport, plane ticket, rental car receipt, and it all seemed totally legit. I even took a picture of him and wrote down his license plate #: 5WVT284. He was driving a new red Dodge Caliber rental (police said the plates were registered to a rental company in Oklahoma).
His name was Salvatore Mar and he's from Napoli, Italy. His passport will confirm all this.
I figured, heck, it's only $200 and the jackets all seemed pretty nice. So I gave him the $ and he took off after thanking me profusely, hugging me repeately, and honking his horn as he drove off.
Anyways, I googled Armani Reportage when I got home and sure enough, the jackets are fake. This scam has been going on all over the place for a couple of years! Some people have paid up to $450!
What a scam! I'm gonna keep my eyes out for this guy and so should you.
