In all honesty, i am not writing this to bash this company in any way, shape, of form, i am just stating the facts. Now if the truth hurts, i'm sorry. But i would rather for someone to know the truth about this as opposed to ranting and raving. Here's what happened verbatum.
I saw an ad in the local newspaper about FUN JOBS! EARN SERIOUS $ WORKING WITH NON-SERIOUS PEOPLE. Up to $500/wk. It peaked my interest so i gave it a shot and i was told that i qualified for a second interview, for which i was placed in a room with about 22 other people with loud music blaring. I thought that was pretty cool since i just got out of the military and was used to everything being so uptight. I had to take a lot of notes about the history of the company and what it would take to make it, about stay motivated, and things of that nature.
After the day ended i was called into the office with another guy and we sat there for all of about 10-15 seconds, basically being chosen to work for the company. I was happy about it because they mentioned "management training" and i thought i would be moving up in the corporate world, that i was on my way. That following tuesday there was only about 10 other people with me (the chosen ones) to start orientation and it appeared that everything was going good.
Until the next day, we were to go out and try to sell cologne and perfume in parking lots, strip malls, car dealerships, basically anywhere that we could to get someone to buy, except for government buildings and the inside of malls. Not wanting to be a pessimist, i kept at it and i noticed that all of the people that were in orientation were dwindling away. I was wondering why everyone was dropping out so quickly. This happened in 2 days! Then came the road trip...
I was told that i was selected for a road trip. Since i was still trying to stay "motivated and positive" about everything, despite the shrinking numbers i opted to go. I didn't know that i would be driving, or stayin in a roach motel and shit like that. I thought that a corporation would have better lodging options besides motel scum bucket, a room with 2 beds for four people, 2 males and 2 females. I wasn't sleeping in a bed with another man, period. The ladies weren't having it either so they shared a bed, and the other guy opted for the floor. Obviously he's was used to this, since he's been with the company for quite a while. That night i was starting to have second thoughts about this company. When we got back that saturday, i came to find out that i was the last one left out of everyone, but i got an instant promotion so i wasn't too upset.
I found out that the promotion was merely a step up from where i was before with no extra pay or bonuses, i just climbed a rung in a ladder but i wasn't upset until i found out what i found out a couple of days later.
On a tuesday, a girl came in with a consumer complaints about this company and i got a chance to read it. Then everything started to make sense but the main reasons that i left this job was because i researched the report, figuring that this couldn't be all true. Looking into it i found atlantic enterprises of virginia, which is also headed by the same guy in the same location that atlantic wholesale was located. I was like "WTF!?" and did a little more research. I found world perfume, looked up the consumer complaints, and found the exact same history that was in my notes. It makes me wonder, how many times will this same company change it's name? But that wasn't enough for me. I put two and two together and i realized this...
Out of three regional managers, only one of them has a decent working vehicle, while the owner drives a convertible lexus. Didn't make sense to me, since that's where i'd be if i worked hard enough; a regional manager.
When i went out with the regional managers, i always had to drive, and they never had money for gas. I actually saw one of them buy a happy meal for himself. Keep in mind that this is a grown ass man. I'm guessing his pockets were pretty light. How can someone say that i can make up to $500/wk if his regional managers aren't even doing it?
It just didn't make sense to me that why were the regional managers not making bank like the head guy? They're one step under him.
I worked longer then 40 hours a week and didn't make sh*t. I would've had some money if i worked that long for MINIMUM WAGE. That was the main reason that i quit, forget the reason that i gave THEM for leaving.
Truth be told, i have bills. I have a car payment, and some other things i need to have money for. If i had no responsibilites whatsoever, and my living expenses were all paid for, this would be a good place to work because i honestly believe that this is somewhere that you could be doing okay within 4-6 months. But i just can't afford to invest in something that has virtually no return.
There is no standard weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pay. If you don't sell, you don't eat. Plain and simple. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that has bills and responsibilities, which is about 90% of all adults.
