In July I encountered the same glossy two page add in the yellow pages for Precision Overhead Garage Door Service in the Austin, TX area. There is no address or website listed in the yellow pages nor white pages. The phone numbers listed in the add are: 512-443-6631,512-263-0856,512-218-9720,512-231-0884,512-459-8646,512-462-4612.

I called them to have them look at one of my garage doors which was sticking when it opened and closed. They told me it needed to be replaced to be usable at a minimum cost of $550 and that the other door was about to be useless due to a series of alleged defects which they said they saw and which made them "dangerous".

They pointed and referred to problems which I could not see, but which they insisted were there.

The charge for this "service call" which was really a scare tactic sales pitch was $39.95, much less than "work" they were trying to scare me into buying.

After getting a second opinion from a real garage door company (not some con artists pretending to be one), I fixed my door for the cost of an $18 spring. Both doors work very well and safely today, no thanks to "Precision Overhead Garage Door Service". That was a close call.
