Hired Griffin and Assoc. For grading and clearing property, est of land to clear was about half of an acre lot. Deal for $2500.00 with a hand shake. We also got him another job for a 2 acre lot one up from ours. Griffin and Assoc. Parked equipment on Thurs or Fri and started on Tuesday of following week. Worked two days on ours and two days on our neighors.

Changed neighbor three times, orginal deal was for 1500.00 then he needed additional 600.00. He finally took $2400.00. We kept asking if ours was still $2500.00 and he kept telling us we are ok. This was for clearing a couple of large trees and alot of small trees and bush. He also hauled dirt four trips from across the driveway. The small dump truck was only a third to half full.

While I was visiting with grandkids he called my husband and told him the total was $5400. My husband was outraged and told him the handshake deal was for $2500.00. He accepted. I husband wrote him a check for $3000.00 being the kind people we are.

Alot of good this did us in about a month Mr. Griffin came by and told us to watch our mail. We received a certified letter from him stated we still owe him $2400.00 for his work ater we had paid him $3000 if we did not respond within 10 days he would put a lein on our property. We won our case in court, but
he appealed with demand for trial by jury. We are still in this process.

For being honest, hard working we sure have some dishonest tradespeople and their lawyers.
