Collection Notice for Paid-Off Account From 10 Years Ago

I was surprised the other day when I received this collection notice in the mail! I called Verizon and they don't have information in regards to our old acct from 10 years ago.

The account was my husband's and we made payments and paid it off. The number that was listed wasn't even our number and this account is 10 years old. I can't locate our receipt because I felt that after 7 years I wouldn't need this info in regards to my husbands acct. I'm furious because we've worked so hard to improve our credit score. Can someone please help?
