Deceptive Rebates and Fradulent Practices Online Only

After sending in two rebates from Tiger Direct via OnRebate.com, I was sent my first rebate, four months after it was sent in. It came without problems, however, the second rebate I recieved was on a 1gb 3200 memory stick from tiger, ordered the same time that came a month after the first.

They were both deposited into my checking account, however, a week after the deposit I noticed that the sum of the second check had been electronically removed from my account and a fee had been charged for the removal. OnRebate had removed the value of the second check and caused my account to be charged a stop payment fee.

I did NOT authorize them to do anything along those lines, nor was I contacted about any problems with the check After I called OnRebate to find out what was going on, they told me that they had sent the wrong check by accident and had tried calling me to stop me from cashing the check. I never recieved a phone call from them nor did they leave a message on my answering machine.

I asked them about the problem and they said they would reissue the proper check, however, they told me that they would not refund the charge for the stop payment that they requested on my account (How were they allowed to remove funds from my account without my permission? Isn't that illegal?).

That was approximately four months ago and I still have not seen the check, nor have they returned any of my phone calls. When I do manage to get an operator at their service line, I end up on eternal hold and eventually disconnected. This is the most pathetic scam I have ever seen from a rebate company and it has caused me to discontinue my use of TigerDirect.com. Tiger does not practice ethical standards.
