US Benefits
Unauthorized cc charge

Education & Science

When checking my credit card account a few days ago I noticed a charge of $288.50 that I did not make. After calling the credit card company I found the charge had been made by US Benefits from New York. I disputed the charge through my credit card company who is checking into it. Today I received a package in the mail from US Benefits.inside was a cd and a letter. The letter stated that they had spoken to someone in my household who had authorized the charge which they had not.

When the credit card company checked into it the transaction showed that it was an online charge and not a phone charge. The letter stated that the only way to get my money back was to send the package back unopened (which is too late since you have to open the package to read the letter). It also stated that you had to call for a confirmation number and they will give you one under only two circumstances, one being the person has limited mental faculties or you can prove you did not order it and will agree to prosecute the person responsible. Which is impossible since nobody placed the order. I called the customer support number and could only reach an answering machine which stated the mail box was full. I am sending the package back registered mail in the morning and sending a receipt to the credit card company as proof and I have canceled my card so they can not place any further charges on it.
