Ripoff I Got Out While I Could

Picking up dog crap in my yard a few weeks I responded to call from UOP. I had answered internet, survey questions and they were following up.

I heard the pitch. I told them I had no time or money. I was asked if I had 3 hours per week and was asked my income.

I was told based on my income that all my expenses would be covered with a loan and grants.

Hmmmmm... Only 3 hours a week and no money out of my pocket. Sounds good! I could do that.

Well, my enrollment advisor must've thought we were going steady or something! He was calling all the time! Applying for FAFSA was a pain and after over 2 weeks, htey finally got that going.

I stupidly attended classes for 2 weeks without knowing if I got AID or not. Remember only needing 3 hours a week? Well, that was BS. I was at it for 3 or more hours! My academic counselor told me "You're working too hard". Should have been another flag for me. If I am going to be sucessful, I have to actually apply myself here!

Last weekend a thought came to me... Research consumer reviews on UOP. Well, lo and behold! I ran across RIP OFFs.com and I went right into a tailspin! I even posted some parts of peoples stories into my classes. I got so freaked that I emailed UOP and asked to drop out to my enrollment and financial advisors! I expected one of them to call me on Monday. Neither did. I called the enrollment counselor. He tried to be really relaxed with me and act like i had done myself no favors reading info about UOP on the net. He asked if that was why I wanted out. I reminded him that my email request stated that he not ask why, just DO IT. He had to transfer me a Rusty gentleman.

This gentleman wanted me to look at a couple of things. I told him I saw enough. Before he could get another load of garbage out of his mouth, I told him to "cut the crap and get me out of this NOW". His response was that they do not get paid commission and that it is not his job to "keep" me there. Blah, blah, blah. He advised that I would hear from finance in regards to my bill (for 2 weeks of class). Lovely. I'll put it on my dance card.

Next thing I know, I get a email from my enrollment counselor saying that he spent a month on me, selected me to enroll into UOP because he believed I wanted a change and could succeed and that I he feels he deserves an explanation as to why I dropped out. What a load of crap. This business buddy. It is MY business to take care of myself! I have not been to school for 25 years and I want a QUALITY education!

I got a $517.00 bill (via email) from them the day after I dropped out. I have NO INTENTIONS of paying this.
