Seminar ripoff

Either Dale West, G.K. Mangelson, or one of a few others may deliver the presentation. The company was founded by one Jay Mitton. Following the seminar where you are convinced that you can become totally immune from lawsuits, there is a high-pressure "buy now or miss out on a huge discount" sales pitch and a rush to the back of the room to buy an attractive leather attache of fill-in-the-blank documents and software so you can set up your practice as a C-corp with all the important modifications to avoid any legal loopholes. I don't know if their materials are legit or b.S., but they claim that their strategy will work, and has been tested, in all 50 states.

The presentation is very convincing, and I feel like I must have been brainwashed to want to fork over thousands of dollars for a one-size-fits-all entity plan. Fortunately, I am only a resident and did not have the $ to do it at the time.

Since attending this presentation, I have become very interested in scams of various types. For a really good description of the tactics used in this seminar, read a review of a "real estate guru" seminar by John T. Reed - if you then attend a National Medical/Dental Foundation seminar, you will see the obvious parallels:

They really want you to buy the materials there, and if you don't, well... You'll have to pay the "regular" price, at a couple thousand $ more. What a sham! They know that if you have a chance to talk to any accountant or lawyer, you'll get a wake-up call and return to Earth.

Anyway, if you are registered for an upcoming medical or dental conference, and these guys present at the host hotel (claiming that they were "invited" to come by the organizers of the conference... Riiiight), by all means go and be entertained. They'll probably even give you a gift card for attending. Then, warn your colleagues about this and let's put these people out of business!
