Tried to scam me, grant ripoff

The named company sent me an advertisement via the United States Post office stating that I qualified for up to $50,000 in us grant money. Before I done my research on them I did call and like an idiot I gave them my SS# bad mistake.

When I called them back after doing research and finding several complaints about them I told them not to use my SS# for anything what soever. The person I spoke with just laughed and then hung up on me. Luckily I never gave them any bank information but with a SS # I am not sure what they can do with that. Hopefully nothing. But I don't count on it.

I am trying to contact the SS office so I can see what can be done, but knowing my luck there is going to be nothing they can do.
