Attempted to get my Bank and Account Information ripoff

I am a victim of Hurricane Katrina. I received a call from a man named Cary Johnson with National Choice. He said that I had been awarded a government grant. Since I had applied for some grants, I verified the information on my name and address. He said they would be sending me some legal papers in the next three days for my signature and to return, then a check would follow. He asked for the bank that I would be using. I told him I was not comfortable giving that information over the phone and that if he was sending me legal papers, I would be happy to put that information on the forms. He said that he needed the information to deposit the money into the account.

WRONG!!! He had already told me that they were sending a check. I told him I needed to know the company name before I would give him the information. He gave me the name, address, phone number, and his employee number. I started pulling it up on the internet, and evidently he heard me typing because he hung up.

Fortunately, I did not give him any information that he didn't already have. This was the second incident of this type in one week. The first one was that I had won two million dollars for a sweepstakes I had entered. I also looked that one up and it was an international fraud.

This is getting scary.
