AIU plays games and tries to rip you off RIPOFF

Education & Science

In February of I decided I wanted to go to back to school and wanted to do it online. I found AIU online. I wanted information. My "student advisor" called me and made everything sound so good. I decided to go through with it. I was suppose to start the first Sunday of May. But I was fired from my job the week before. I called my "student advisor" and told her that I had to drop out because I knew financial aide wouldn't cover all the costs and I wasn't going to be able to start until I got another job.

My "student advisor" told me, "Just wait until the end of the month. If you still can't afford it, I will help you then." Then she rushed off the phone. I knew if I waited until the end of the month, I would have to pay the whole tuition. I knew if I dropped the first week, I would have to pay anything, and each week after that, up to four weeks, the percentage of the tuition I would have to pay would increase, regardless of whether I completed or not.

On Wednesday of my first week, I decided I had to quit. So I started calling and emailing my "student advisor." She would not respond to any of my calls or emails. The following Sunday, the beginning of my second week and the beginning of the percentage increase, I received an email from another lady stating she was my new "student advisor". I complained to her about wanting to drop and how I kept trying to get in contact with my old "student advisor". She told me she couldn't help me with my old " student advisor" but she did advice me to stay in school until the end of the month, claiming that the student loans would cover the cost of the class and that I wouldn't have to pay anything. I told her I knew she was lying because I did in fact read all the information during the orientation. I knew I would have to pay.

She then refused to help me and began to ignore my calls and emails. I then began to receive call after call and email after email from the financial aide department saying I owed them money. Over $1,100.00 just because I signed into the class 3 times during the second week. Signed in! Not did any work or participated in any way, shape, or form. Only to check my email. I owed over $1,100.00 just because I checked my email 3 times??? I don't think so. They are not going to get paid... Ever.

In fact, I am looking into a lawsuit against them. And I suggest anyone else who has been screwed by them do the same. Enough complaints to the better business bureau or to the law will get things done. Ban together and take this dishonest, unethical school down!!!
