PALMETTO MARKETING ripoff Two young men entered my home without permission, days later I realized items were missing

On Dec 18th 05 two young men from PALMETTO MARKETING INC rang my door bell and were waving to me through the window by the door, I foolishly opened the door.
Immediately the two men began fast talking to me at the same time, about college and a cruise and before I knew what was going on... They had walked by me into my home.

Seating themselves uninvited at my bar they asked several times for a shot of alchohol {I refused} and they asked for $70 for some magazine subscription, { I refused }they pleaded for $35, by this time a good 20 minutes had passed and they were not giving up and I was now running late to pick up my daughter. I went into the next room grabbed my check book and gave them a check for $35, and thank God they left.

I later came to realize things were missing from my room so I put a stop payment on the check I had given them, and called PALMETTO MARKETING INC to no avail. Since then I have received 3 letters demanding I pay $65 or else the state attorneys office of worthless checks will take over this matter. I really don't know what to do.
