Ecowater Systems, HSBC, Household Bank And Waterwise
Ecowater Systems, HSBC, formerly, Household Bank And Waterwise ripoff

Education & Science

I am reporting being ripped off by Ecowater Systems, HSBC (formerly household bank), and an independent dealer, Waterwise.

I found Ecowater Systems ad in the Yellow Pages. I was in need of a water filtering system as I had just moved into a mobile home that had a newly drilled well on it. The add said that the system worked salt free. A salesman from, I thought at the time, Ecowater Systems. The salesman, turned on my water and saw the problem that I was having. There was red clay in my water. He told me that the Ecowater system would clean it up. I asked him several times for reassurance that the problem would be fixed. He said it would. I ended up signing all the paperwork that he required to have the system installed. I put down a payment and he said someone would come out and install the system. A couple of guys showed up and put in a big plastic bin looking thing and a water ionizer under the sink. They put what looked like rock salt in the plastic water softner bin and put a whole in the plastic pipe under the sink for the ionizer. After that was done, I was completely confused. The add said salt free and it was crucial that I could not have salt in the water as a family member had congestive heart failure and kidney failure that lived in the house.

The whole reason that I called Ecowater systems was because they advertised that the system was salt free. Needless to say the water softener made the water more orange as the salt broke down the clay. It was awful. I had not received the acidifying unit at that point and told the owner of the dealership that I wanted it taken out. He was very hateful with me and we ended up in a huge argument.

The plastic pipe started leaking and has flooded the kitchen several times. I finally called out a plumber to replace the pipe after i tore out the ionizer.

The dealer would not let me out of the deal. I wrote to HSBC and explained what had happened. They ignored me. The dealer, Waterwise, has since gone out of business. He is nowhere to be found. He apparently submitted my application for credit with Hsbc (Household bank in Nevada), and they went ahead and gave me
the credit card. I wrote to the Better Business Bureau also.

To this day I still have not receive the acidifier that I was billed for. I hired a lawyer but am still being harrassed by a collection agency over this deal.

The problem with dealing with Ecowater Systems is that as a consumer you are dealing with 3 different companies and are not aware of it at the time.

When I called the number in the Yellow Pages, I thought I was dealing with Ecowater Systems only. I feel that I was wronged many times in this one encounter.

I have never used the system and they would not take it out. I was suppose to have gotten 3 days to change my mind, but I never got the three days as I never received the whole system and I did try to get them to take it out but they refused. I have been ripped off, to the tune of $8000.

This all happened in May.
