Incorporated A close call!

Wow, am I glad I found this website. You guys have headed me off at the pass! I have a CD-ROM of Matthew Lesko's "Guide to Free Money", with a chapter called "I Wanna be an Inventor". Right of the bat, he warns of companies like Davison, and states that you can do everything yourself for less money.

But, my brother found their website on the internet, gave me their brochure, and against my better judgement, I sent the information to them. A week later, I get a call from one of their salesman, James Tarasi, stating that my product was accepted. He explained that they would do the patent search for me (Which I already did for free on the USPTO site), and file the $10 disclosure (Which Lesko says you can do on your own), and that their research would be more thorough than what I would do.

He then went on to explain that in their meetings, he had to demonstrate to the others what my product would do, because he is involved in the hobby that this product is designed for. They all agree that this will revolutionize the industry!

He explained that their initial research would take 11-15 hours at $55/hr., and they would take it through the entire process for only 10% of my profits on the product. That seemed fine, until I received the information with the initial contract. Suddenly, there are all these steps, and each step requires a contract, with a fee to continue. Then the next step, and the next, and the next. The fee is never disclosed, but I can see why so many products do not get through to the finished product, and turning a profit. It has nothing to do with marketability, but rather, it appears to me, that the client has run out of money.

I had the chance to speak with one of their "Success stories" prior to me sending in my information, and he is very happy with the results. He must be one of the 10 making a profit. His e-mail is what made me decide to send in the information. But, after having read all the horror stories here, I believe I am going to by-pass them and go in a different direction, using the tips in Lesko's CD-ROM.

Thankfully caller ID comes in handy for just ignoring their phone calls. I looked into Advent, and the same thing.
