Ripoff, forgery

My husband and I went into Carpet Mill Outlet on Saturday, April 2nd to purchase laminate flooing for our kitchen, living room, dining room family room, stairs and foyer. The salesman, Lou steered us away from the flooring and showed us one sample and was very persuasive. We gave him our estimate of the square footage. We were told the estimated cost would be $6,000 and they would through in all the baseboards and molding. We were then asked for a deposit of $3,000, which we were told was completely refundable. We had no reason to doubt his sincerity since we had done business with Carpet Mill Outlet 4 times over the past 16 years.

The measuring person came to measure Monday afternoon. After doing the measuring he would not tell me the total square footage he measured. He told me that Lou would call us with the figures. On Tuesday, we called Lou and he said he was still calculating the figures and would call us later in the day. Once he had the figures he called and told me the square footage was over our estimate. I told him I would have to speak to my husband and we would get back to him. My husband called Lou back later that day and told him we decided to hold off, that we couldn't afford it at this time.

During the course of the next several hours Lou would call me at home and bother me about a deal we could make. I told him I wasn't interested. My husband called Mike, the manager and asked them to stop harrasing me and to please refund our money. He was told by Mike that he understoon and that there would be no problem.

I received my Visa bill and saw that there had been no credit. My husband called Mike again and was told it was an oversight and that they would credit our account.

Two weeks later we still had not received a credit and my husband called Mike again and was told that it was sitting on the owner's desk. He then spoke to Harry, who told him that the salesman, Lou, had been fired and that he had ordered the floor and this was going to be a problem.

My husband told Harry that we did not authorize the order of the materials and that we also had spokenn to the manager regarding the cancellation.

Harry said that the owner would call us the next day. For the next 3 weeks my husband called every day, and everyday we were told the owner would have an answer tomorrow.

Since then, we received a copy of the invoice from the Better Business Bureau and it is a doctored invoice, one which we never saw or signed.

All we want is our money back. We have received NOTHING from them in return for $3,000! They are crooks, frauds and liars.

I cannot believe that any business is allowed to be run like this. What they have done is clearly illegal. The have lies and stolen from us and doctored inoices. We have had to cancel our credit card for fear they will doctor additional invoices.
