We have been getting phone calls from Merchants Credit Guide Company. When we answer a woman (I will not mention by name), DEMANDS that my husband confirm his social security number, and when told that we will neither confirm or deny any information - as we have no clue what company they are or represent, this snotty woman hangs up.
I call back today, I've had it with these people calling my home and the rudeness, I spoke with an alleged supervisor and politely tried to find out about what these calls are in reference to. I stated that we would not confirm or deny a social security number and he bacame beligerant and began to yell at me!
I informed this gentlman, in a calm tone that I am requesting that the calls cease and desist, and stated that perhaps he may wish to better acquaint himslef with the Fair Credit Collections Act. His response to me was "No you'd better! I know what the he* I'm talking about!" I asked for this mans supervisor and was told "he ain't here!" (keep in mind that all responses from this man are being yelled at me). I asked for his supervisors supervisor and was told "HE AIN'T HERE, AND YOU'LL GET MY SUPERVISORS VOICE MAIL!"
I replied that was not good enough and I didn't want the voice mail, but I was told, "YOU'LL GET THE DAMN VOICE MAIL AND THAT'S ALL YOU'LL GET!".
I left no message, as I am not giving these idiots any more info than they have!
Now, I don't know what is the deal with this company, but I have no debt that these people would be calling for.
I also did state to the guy on the phone that in today's age with identity theft being so prevelant, it's foolish to expect anybody to relinquish thier SS#, especially after being a victim of ID theft as my husband has been.
When is something going to be done about this company?!? It's unbelievable!!
