This company offers a "free" credit report to consumers, while fully intending to charge them for a monthly, or annual fee that is hidden in the terms and conditions. Their service advertises that they provide online viewing of your credit report at any time, but the service often is unavailable even in the trial period. They give you no phone number in the email or instructions on how to cancel your account within the first 30 days, and they do not report their full phone number when submitting the charges to your bank. The listing on the electronic statement is from CIC Credit Monitoring, and is not from consumerinfo.com, which is where the original offer for the "free" credit report came from.
After phoning them, and speaking to "Ann" (Corporate ID#63969) she kept repeating that it was in the terms, and that I should have read them. She would not refund me the monthly charges, until I demanded to talk to a supervisor. At which time, she placed me on hold for 5 minutes while she "consulted with the billing department" to see if they could refund me the fees. She came back online to state that she would only refund me one month of fees of the four months I had been charged.
I initially glanced at my credit report the first time, and then try to access others in the first two days and it was repeatedly unavailable. After that time, I never used the service and yet found charges on my monthly statement as if they had provided me a service that they could not provide. And no way of cancelling, as I had no electronic messages nor correct bank information as a means to contacting them.
At this point, there is nothing my bank can do. I have changed my credit card number so they can not charge the fee again since I never authorized them to charge a fee to begin with. It's all I can do, since no one at their office will allow me to speak to a supervisor.
