Deceiving and misleading ripoff

I recently applied to the University of Phoenix Online (2 days) ago. They were extremely pushy in demanding that I hurry and submit all of my paperwork and apply for financial aid. They stated that they wanted me to write my credit card number on the application and fax it or my application would not be valid.

I declined to do this. Then they wanted me to put the credit card number through a secure webpage or the application would not go through. I did submit my number via the application webpage. I was told that my credit card would not be charged until all of my paperwork was in.

The next day I found this wonderful webpage and read for two hours the complaints from former students of UOP. I immediately contacted the "Admissions Counselor" as well as her manager and the financial advisor telling them to discard my application because I was not interested in a school that was shady. Remember, I was emailed that my charge card would not be charged until all of my paperwork was submitted.

Well, guess what? They charged my credit card the minute I applied online. I have contacted them and have given them until Monday to credit my charge card and destroy my application. With identity theft on the rise - who knows what they could do with my credit card number. I just want to make others aware of this situation so that they will be more careful than I was. I had a knot in my stomach when they were so insistent on me hurrying with the application and even had my assistant principals complete references for me.

How embarrassing! After reading all of the postings on this webpage, I was ashamed that I even considered working on a doctorate degree with a school that has so many complaints. We live and learn. I hope to receive my refund and I will post an update if I do.
