Ripoff scam artists took my money without authorization

I was contacted by Avlis at the end of November. They told me I was approved for a Mastercard with a $2,500 limit and 0% interest rate.

I was interested and then confirmed my bank account information. I was told that my account would be debited on December 10th. The amount was $349.60. I was also told that they would contact my bank to verify funds.

After talking with my husband, we agreed that we shouldn't have to pay for a credit card. I tried to call Avlis back to cancel whatever contract I had with them, and no one returned my calls.

Since I didn't hear from them I went to my bank to try and close my account and unfortunately I couldn't offically close it as I had outstanding transactions.

After I got home from the bank the phone rang and it was Avlis, "returning my calls". I told her I wanted to cancel, and was told "I can't cancel it because it's being processed". I told her that I was closing my account. She said if I closed my account the contract would be cancelled.

The transaction didn't go through on December 10th, like they said. I didn't have sufficient funds in my account to cover the $349, so I wasn't worried. Today, December 14th, I learned that the transaction in the amount of $349 went through on the 13th.

I didn't have funds in my account and now my account is overdrawn. My bank even called Avlis (they actually got through on the first try) and they said that they would get back to us in a couple of days. They even have my bank pissed off. Obviously, they didn't call to verify funds as they stated.

So, I may or may not get my money back. I hope this company goes down. I want them to pay for what they've done. I even contacted the United States Postal Service in Bear, Delaware, who is handling this investigation.
