I have had a bad experience with CIC credit monitoring and see that many others have too. I too was lured with the promise of a free credit report, and later found that if you wanted your actual score you had to pay $5.00, which is false advertising.
I had a hard time getting through to the company and when I finally did, the person I spoke to on the phone went on and on about how credit scores could change every day and how I really needed this service. I must have yelled at him to just cancel it for 10 minutes. I don't appreciate him playing on my fear like that, and am now worried because they have my social security number and am wondering if they might actually try to alter information in a credit report.
