Flimsy step ladde

Sept 9th 04 my werner, 6ft. Alum ladder, gave out on me while standing on the third step. I was looking for a place in my garage rafters for some storage. My garage ceiling is 9' to the rafters and i stand about 6'1 tall 200 lbs. Tall. I only needed to be up about 3'. When the ladder buckled and twisted and down i came. I hit the garage floor ankle first.
Injury results 2 broken bones in foot and ankle. Off work since sept 9th.
This was a cheap werner ladder price wise less than $50.00 it does have a 225 wt. Cap. This flimsy thing should not be sold.
I have contacted no one about this, not werner or lawyers. Dont know what to do.
