Salesman stops in the farmyard with multi-unit "deal"

A silver chevy Pickup pulled in the yard as I was going to the shop. It had "Tahoe Industries of Iowa" on the side of the vehicle and two generators, a trash pump and air compressor in the box. The fellow told me he was on his way back from South Dakota, where he had picked up the items, when he received a call from his boss telling him that "the deal had fallen through and to see if he could sell the items as a package to someone else on the way home".
The invoice he showed me was $6,900.00 for the 7000 kwh diesel generator and he would "throw in the rest of the items plus the welder in the back seat". Familiarity with similar items and their prices at the local Runnings told me this was breakeven with the local store at best.
This is a warning to fellow midwesterners - buyer beware!
