Scams renters out of their deposits, TN

Be very careful when dealing with Greyhaven Realty Management Company! They will do everything possible to make sure you do not receive your security deposit back when you move. Our place was left in immaculate condition, far better than when we moved in, and they made up reasons why we were not entitled to get it back.

Only one room in the house had carpet. They claimed they could smell pet urine in the carpet which was a complete lie. We had one dog who was well trained and never went inside. We paid a pet security deposit of $250.00 which was non-refundable and we knew that when we rented this place and were fine with that. The carpet was at least 20 years old when we moved in and we had it shampooed before we moved in and after we moved out.

The house went up for sale 1 year after we moved in and the realtor was showing it to prospective buyers at least once a month as well as having 2 open houses while we still lived there. There was never a complaint about any odor the whole time that they were in and out of the house showing it. It was only when they had to refund our $1495.00 security deposit that they found a problem with it. They stated that they were going to have to replace the pad and carpet.

Our only recourse was to file a small claims suit, but my husband and I both work out of town and there was no way we could guarantee that we would be in town when it was scheduled for court, which would have cost us more money. Again, be very cautious when dealing with this company!!
